HB2 correction: retention funding when a small district grows

Correction · November 3, 2026 (Texas)

The original explanation omitted a funding qualification: a district that previously received the higher teacher-retention amounts for districts with 5,000 or fewer students keeps that funding treatment if its enrollment grows above 5,000.

Source: Final HB2, Article 1, section 1.07; Education Code 48.158(b-1).

Only this teacher-retention funding qualification was checked for this correction. The full HB2 review remains incomplete: an official House amendment instruction is incomplete, and the expanded explanation still needs its final review.

The original explanation remains available with this dated addendum. This does not add a completed full review or a new bill explanation.

Read the HB2 explanation and correction.
